The sources name three bosses: Barca, Goliath, and Praefectus

Steam screenshots label two bosses, Beastmaster Barca and Goliath. The studio’s 15 September 2026 press release names a third, Praefectus, as Rome’s boss, and says the launch has three chapters: Carthage, the frozen wastes of Germania, and Rome.

The banner is the name. In the shot, Barca is a huge armored figure in a sand arena with gates and a watching crowd. Shields, spears, and a streak of fire share the floor with two chained fighters. The screenshot prints no chapter name and no attack list.

Goliath

Goliath’s health banner sits at the top of a snowfield. Burning wooden stakes and bear traps ring the fight, and the chain still links the two visible fighters. As with Barca, the image shows the name and the arena, and it leaves the move list unstated.

Praefectus and the Rome chapter

Praefectus - Rome’s Boss is the most formidable yet.

That sentence is from Dylan Bevis, co-director at Featherweight Games, in the studio’s 15 September 2026 press release. The same remark says players will face Praefectus and his Praetorian Guard, and it calls the Rome chapter the final one the team was about to unleash. No Praefectus screenshot is in the Steam set used here.

Three chapters, two unlabeled boss arenas

The press release says the 15 October 2026 launch includes three arena chapters. The route it describes starts in Carthage, continues through the frozen wastes of Germania, and ends in the heart of the Roman Empire. The store’s boss paragraph matches the destination in broader language: as fame rises you fight brutal bosses, “heroes of the arena,” who have every advantage. Victory brings you closer to Rome and a chance at freedom or revenge.

Barca’s sand colosseum and the Carthaginian ring of that name sit naturally beside the Carthage chapter. Goliath’s snowfield sits naturally beside the line about Germania. The screenshots never print those chapter names on the boss banners, so this guide records the names, the arenas, and the chapter list side by side, and it stops before assigning Barca or Goliath to a chapter.

GamesStarter review

The GamesStarter review says late-game bosses are built from attack patterns, and it contrasts that with roguelikes that only inflate health. It also mentions higher difficulty tiers, level modifiers, and harsher enemy groups. Those are the reviewer’s comparisons. Health totals and pattern charts are absent from the Steam screenshots and the press release.

What a party is told to bring

The store page’s answer to bosses is the rest of the loop: skills, crowd favor, bought weapons, and characters unlocked across runs, all while injuries accumulate. The chain still applies. The co-op text says an uncoordinated party tangles on the scenery, which is the same scenery visible under both boss banners. Practical notes on that chain are in the co-op guide, and the injury cards are on the afflictions page.
